The initiative

Call 4 Ideas is an initiative of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, promoted by the Life Sciences Cluster as part of measures aimed at attracting investment, supporting innovative start-ups and implementing research, development and innovation projects in the regional life sciences sector (Regional Law 22/2022).

Call 4 Ideas aims to identify and reward innovative ideas in the regional life sciences sector proposed by start-ups, spin-offs and SMEs with a prize of €10,000, comprising a cash award and specialist services based on the iLoop methodology, including innovation support activities designed to assist in the development and positioning of innovative solutions in the life sciences sector.

Target audience

The initiative is aimed at start-ups, spin-offs, and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises – whether regional, Italian or foreign – that wish to submit their innovative ideas for research, development and innovation projects. The call is open to anyone who aspires to drive change and shape the future of the life sciences in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region recognises four development pathways as strategic for the life sciences sector

Development paths and themes

The development trajectories represent the main areas of innovation identified by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S4) for the life sciences sector.
Within each trajectory, specific themes have been identified in Annex A for the Call4Ideas, which define the technological and application areas considered a priority for the development of new products, services and innovative solutions.
To participate in Call4Ideas, the project proposal must clearly relate to at least one of the themes set out in Annex A within the selected trajectory or trajectories.

Traiettorie di sviluppo 
e tematiche

Le traiettorie di sviluppo rappresentano i principali ambiti di innovazione individuati dalla Strategia di Specializzazione Intelligente (S4) della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia per il settore delle Scienze della Vita.
All’interno di ogni traiettoria, per la Call4Ideas nell’’Allegato A sono state individuate specifiche tematiche che definiscono le aree tecnologiche e applicative considerate prioritarie per lo sviluppo di nuovi prodotti, servizi e soluzioni innovative.
Per partecipare alla Call4Ideas, la proposta progettuale deve essere chiaramente riconducibile ad almeno una delle tematiche previste nell’Allegato A all'interno della o delle traiettorie selezionate.

About us

The Life Sciences Cluster is an organisation managed by the Alto Adriatico Technology Park, which aims to foster the development of the life sciences ecosystem in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The Cluster plays a leading role in building relationships between the regional life sciences industry and research sectors, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and business opportunities. The Cluster helps to develop a virtuous ecosystem and to make Friuli Venezia Giulia a centre of excellence for research and innovation, as well as an attractive location for researchers and businesses.
